Personal care and home personal care agreements have been scrapped and will no longer cover a person’s car insurance in Ireland.
This means the new personal care contract will only cover car insurance when the car is in a private home or in the home of someone else.
Insurance companies will be allowed to offer coverage across the whole of a person.
The change will make it possible for any insurance company to cover car and motor vehicle insurance in a home and across the home, as well as cover personal care and personal care products.
The Irish Insurance Council said the new system will make people safer by allowing them to buy insurance when needed and cover a wider range of products.
