Man charged with killing wife, daughter and baby in Melbourne

A man has been charged with murder after a five-year-old girl died and her mother and daughter were killed in Melbourne’s west.

Police say a man with a hammer was seen attacking the two-month-old and killing the woman and daughter.

“The deceased child was found lying face down in a drainage ditch in the parking lot of a private residential property on the west side of North Melbourne,” police said in a statement.

“Officers were called at approximately 3:15pm today to a residential property in North Prestwick Street.”

Two females were located at the scene and both were deceased and their remains found in that ditch.

“Police said the man was found nearby and taken into custody.”

Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously,” they said.”

Anyone who sees or has any information is urged to contact Detective Sergeant Mark Hutton, Crime Stompers NSW.

“He was remanded in custody in custody and will face court on Monday.

Police said their investigation into the death of the girl will continue.”

Our investigation is ongoing, we are also assisting in a coronial inquiry into the incident,” they added.”
